Taking its inspiration from the elegance of travel’s golden age and luxury ocean liners, this high-end spa and gymnasium captures the sense of joy and journey through the inspired use of natural light and reflective surfaces to mimic the play of light on the ocean. Three storeys of polished stainless steel expertly caresses the perimeter of the space, gesturing people down to the pool on the lower deck. Meanwhile, the entirety of the spa’s form is filled with glimmering white and softened blue light. To accentuate this, designers chose to highlight the light-filled space with solid espresso stained Blackbutt timber throughout the grand entrance staircase, and lime-wash solid American oak throughout the spa as the understated centrepiece.
