With its weathered grain and rich natural hues, the Otta range of engineered flooring throughout the Quarterdeck House beautifully expresses the residents’ desires to celebrate natural textures and materials. The trapezoidal parcel on which this house sits allowed for a wide ground floor living space opening out onto the ocean, and upstairs a narrow and long cantilevered structure projects the property further toward the shoreline.
Integrating the oceanscape into the property allowed both residents and designers to play with a variety of natural textures and soft, muted colour schemes. The Otta timber flooring throughout acts doubly to soften bold, geometric forms, while accenting muted honeyed and ashen tonal scheme of the surrounding landscape. As a deep and moody timber with a distinctive grain, Otta is used strategically throughout the property to an understated yet always dramatic effect.
